Energy consumption minimization in wireless visual sensor networks using convex optimization

Visual wireless sensor networks have been developed as a directional types of sensor network with unique performance, complexity and quality of service challenges. They provide more information than the other types of wireless sensor networks. The goal of this paper is to optimize the trade of between the energy consumption and the quality of received data. For realization of this goal, we investigate the camera node selection problem for target tracking application. In our camera node selection proposed algorithm, the camera node is selected which satisfies the desired constraints and also has the shortest distance from the fusion center. The suitable result is gained with modeling the problem and solving it as a convex problem. Also we compare the results of the proposed algorithm with those of algorithms that select the camera node which has the shortest distance from the target under tracking.
