Design of Broad Band Highly Nonlinear Photonic Crystal Fiber with Near-Zero Flattened Dispersion and Low Confinement Loss

In this paper, two highly nonlinear, broadband near-zero dispersion single mode photonic crystal fibers (PCF) with Ge-doped cores are presented. High nonlinear coefficient, near-zero flattened dispersion in the wide range of communication band and low confinement loss are the most significant characteristics of the proposed fibers. The simulation results show that at 1.55 μm, the nonlinear coefficient of PCF-1 and PCF-2 are 60.24 W-1 km-1 and 49.9 W-1 km-1, respectively. Also at this wavelength, dispersion for PCF-1 and PCF-2 are 0.17 ps/nm-km and 0.66 ps/nm-km, respectively.
